 Kullu Valley is a broad open valley formed by the bank of the Beas River between Manali and Largi situated at an altitude of 1278 meters. Kullu, a popular tourist destination generally coupled with Manali, this is the place of panoramic views and majestic hills covered with Deodar and Pine trees. The word ‘Kullu’ is reason to have been arise from the word ‘Kuluta’ which was found inscribed on a coin from the first century A.D. The first king (Raja) mentioned in the historical record is Virayasa whose name figures on that coin as ‘Virayasa, King of Kuluta’. Kullu valley is sandwiched between the Pir Panjal, Lower Himalayan and Great Himalayan Ranges. Manali to Leh is the world's highest road. The nearest airport (IATA code KUU) is at Bhuntar town, situated on NH21 at the confluence of Parvati and Beas rivers.  Kullu valley is the most beautiful place in Himachal Pradesh and India if you are a nature lover must go there and observed there beauty. Famous places in kullu and Manali:-
Bijli Mahadev Temple
Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,460m from Kullu valley.  Across the Beas River, Bijli Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient and sacred temples in India. This temple dedicated to Lord shiva. It is said that the Bijli Mahadev Temple houses a Shiva Linga which was broken into pieces by skying lightning, then after the priest of temple joint back together these pieces by using butter. A scenic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. Over around the area of temple, there is no single tree, it is believed that this place is the body of a big snake. Located 22 km from Kullu across the Beas river.


Jagannathi Devi Temple

This temple is very old in kullu valley this temple built in 1500 years ago jagannathi Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhuwaneshwari, the sister of Lord Vishnu. This temple also known as Bhekhli mata because this temple located in Bhekhli village. The temple is situated at bhekhli which is 10 km from Kullu Bus stand. In Jagannathi temple the local people and international tourists daily came here. There you see  Wooden Crafted sculptures of Goddess on the Walls and Pahari architecture style. There also a thin cave near the temple.


Rohtang pass

Rohtang pass lies at an altitude 3978 m above sea level located in the pir panjal range.  Located at a distance of just 51 kilometres from the main town of manali  Rohtang Pass can be reached only by road.  Pass is a favourite among the community of film directors. Many blockbusters ranging from 'Jab We Met' to 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' have been shot here. The pass is open from May to November. It is not particularly high or difficult to cross on foot by Himalayan standards. The Rohtang Pass is the same road, which connects to Leh Ladakh  from Manali. It spot more than lakh visitors every year, however, the routes here are completely covered in snow in winter.  Rohtang pass also known as 'home of spirits' due to the number of people who died  there while crossing this difficult mountain range.


Hidimba Devi temple

 Hidimba devi temple is also known as Dhungari Temple. This temple built in 1553 AD by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. Hidimba Devi, who was the wife of Bhima and mother of Ghatothkach. This beautiful shrine is built on a rock which is believed to be in the image of goddess Hidimba herself. The surrounding area of the temple is covered by gorgeous cedar forests. This temple located 2.7km 15-minute route from Manali. According to Hindu mythology, the giant Hadimba meditated in this region as an apology for her sins. The construction style of the Hidimba Devi temple is entirely different from that of any of the other temples with intricately carved wooden doors and a 24 meters tall wooden "Shikhar" or tower above the sanctuary  The tower consists of three square roofs covered with timber tiles and fourth is brass cone-shaped roof at the top. The Hidimba Temple is slowly but steadily attracting tourists from all over the country.
Manikaran

Manikaran is located in the Parvati Valley on river Parvati,  Bhuntar in Kullu. It is at an altitude of 1760 m and is located about 35 km from Kullu.  Manikaran is known as an important pilgrimage destination for both Sikhs and Hindus. It is believed that once Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati once chanced upon this place and Parvati Mata lost her mani in water and Lord Shiva commanded his attendant to find the mani for Parvati when they failed lord shiva was extremely angry. He opened his third eye,Sheshnag, to pacify Lord Shiva. Sheshnag hissed thereby giving rise to a flow of boiling water. The water spread over the entire area resulting in the issue of precious stones of the type Goddess Parvati had lost. That's why the water of manikaran is hot. There are also a hot spring, “Sri guru Nanak dev ji gurudwara” this gurudwara started by Giani Gian shik in twelfth Guru Khalsa and there are also a 1100 years old temple of Lord shiva.

Solang valley
Solang valley also known as Solang Nala  it is a side valley at the top of the Kullu Valley. It is located 14 km from Manali and 52 km from Kullu and average altitude of 2,560 meters above sea level. Solang valley is famous for parachuting, paragliding, skating and zorbing. During winters, Solang valley is covered with snow making skiing is a popular sport here, with training institutes and trainers located in the valley to supervise skiers and train beginners. There are also a Ajani Mata temple half an hour walking distance and horses are also available for reach this temple. Outside of Ajani Mata temple there is one shivling and one natural cold water spring that's spring drop down on shivling. The winter skiing festival is also organized in Solang every year and the activities like Zorbing, Horse riding & Snow MotorBikes riding.

Mul Mahunag Temple Karsog

  Mahunag Temple   Mahunag Temple is a very Famous and Historical temple in Karsog this temple dedicated to the god Shiva. In Himachal Pradesh so many temples of Mahunag but this temple is the main temple Mahunag that's why this temple is called Mul Mahunag. This temple is 32 Km from the Karsog bus stand and 84 Km from Shimla. This temple is located on the top of the hill and from there we see a very beautiful and awesome view.  Every year in May and June there local people holding the fair. Traveling  from Karsog This temple is 32 km from Karsog and we start our journey at 1 Pm from Karsog with my friends on our personal vehicle. The road of Mahunag from Karsog to Churag is very good and open but after the road is very narrow. But the road is safe to drive if you drive at normal speed. We reach this place in one and a half hours.  This temple is very beautiful and big from the outside and you can see many mountains from this temple and also see apple gardens and many trees of Hima

Bijli Mahadev Temple Kullu

  Bijli Mahadev Temple Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,460m from Kullu valley.
