Choti Kashi of Himachal Pradesh Mandi

Mandi
Raja  Ajbar Sen built this city in 1527 but on 15 April 1948 Mandi was assembled with the takeover of two princely states Mandi State and Suket State. This day is also celebrated as a Himachal day because on that day Himachal Pradesh was established. It is situated 145km from Shimla, 183km from Chandigarh, and 418k from Delhi. Mandi is very famous as the name of Choti Kashi because  Mandi has an 81 temple, however in Kashi only 80 temples. The population of mandi is 26,422 and the Literacy rate of males and females in mandi is 83.5%. Mandi has 7 tehsils and 9 sub-tehsils namely  Karsog, Sunder-Nagar, Sadar Mandi, Sarkaghat, Thunag, Joginder Nagar, Chachyot and sub tehsils  Ladbharol, Padher, Sandhole, Dharmpur, Baldwara, Nihri, Kotli, Aut, Bali Chowki. There is also an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) college in Kamand city of mandi. Mandi Shivaratri fair is also very popular in India and the world. Mandi is also famous for its temples like Kamrunag, Shikari Devi, Bhutnath temple, Mamleshwar Mahadev, etc.


 Famous places in Mandi
     Kamrunag


Kamrunag is the name of a place but there is also one temple that names Kamrunag temple. Kamrunag is also famous for its lake it is believed that there are gold, money, silver. The height of Kamrunag is 3334m from main road Kamrunag temple prevaricate on the Mandi-Karsog road. It is situated 212km from Chandigarh and 39km from Mandi. Every year on the dated 14 and 15 June there celebrate a fair, and thousands of people come here to pray.
Traveling Experience of Kamrunag 
Kamrunag is a very famous place in India, and I am very lucky because of this temple only 50 Km from my home. I travel to this place so many times and every time I got a different experience and now I share my experience with you. I started my journey with my family from Bakhrot( Bakhrot is a small town of Karsog tehsil) in my personal vehicle and we reach the Rohanda station just in 1 and a half hours then after we walk on Kamrunag way.  On this day so many people come to Kamrunag because we go on 14 June and this day every year there is a very big fair so that's why thousands of people come to this place. when we start to walk in this way then we see thousands of people on this temple way, not even Indian there are also foreign people on this way. 

Prashar Lake



The lake is located at a height of 2730 m above sea level with deep and clear water. It is situated about 50 km from Mandi. There is also a Prashar temple and cover by a small mountain. It is believed that Sage Prashar meditated on the banks of this lake so it's known as Prashar lake. It is also known as the bird's eye as when seen from above it affinity the same. It is believed that the temple was built in the thirteenth century and legend has it was built by a baby from a single tree.


Shikari Devi Temple

Shikari Devi temple is about 90.5km from Mandi and 21 km from Karsog. The height of Kamrunag is 3359mtr. Above the sea level Being the highest peak of Mandi District, it is also called the Crown of Mandi. Shikari Devi temple way is full of the forest but on the top of this mountain, there is not even a single tree. Shikari Devi temple is a roofless temple but on the time of winters, no snow is spotted in temple premises when the entire region around this temple is covered up to several feet of snow. Visitors can trek to shikari from Chindi, Karsog, Janjehli through different trek routes.

 Bhutnath temple

Bhutnath temple is established in 1527AD by Ajbar sen this temple is dedicated to lord shiva with stone carvings. Bhutnath temple is located in the main street of the town center of the mandi. There is a tradition of Raj Madhav Rao, the deity who ruled the Mandi state, visiting the temple, and offer prayers before starting the procession of Maha Shivratri Fair along-with all the visiting hill deities.

Rewalsar


Rewalsar is situated 22km from Mandi, there is one lake that names Rewalsar lake this lake also known as Tso Pema Lotus Lake. This lake is one of the most famous lakes in Himachal Pradesh and a very attractive place for tourists. It is a sacred spot for Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. This lake is full of thousands of fish and there are so many monkeys around the lake. In Rewalsar you also see Zoo this zoo is full of many animals. There are also temples of Buddhists, Hindu, and Sikhs and on the top of Rewalsar mountain, there is a temple of Naina Devi. In Himachal, there are two Naina Devi temple one in Bilaspur and 2nd one in Rewalsar.On the way to Naina Devi temple, you also see ground caves.


    Barot


Barot village comes in serene valleys of mandi it is situated 66 km from Mandi. This place developed in the 1920s for Shanan Hydel Project this project work on the Uhl river. You also see a few fish farms over around the Uhl river. Barot is a part of Nargu Wildlife sanctuary, the home of many animals like goral, Himalayan black bear, and Pheasants. Barot village is very small in size but this village store wealth of beauty. Barot is a very peaceful place you never find this type of place in the world. So you must go to Barot and feel nature.

Mul Mahunag Temple Karsog

  Mahunag Temple   Mahunag Temple is a very Famous and Historical temple in Karsog this temple dedicated to the god Shiva. In Himachal Pradesh so many temples of Mahunag but this temple is the main temple Mahunag that's why this temple is called Mul Mahunag. This temple is 32 Km from the Karsog bus stand and 84 Km from Shimla. This temple is located on the top of the hill and from there we see a very beautiful and awesome view.  Every year in May and June there local people holding the fair. Traveling  from Karsog This temple is 32 km from Karsog and we start our journey at 1 Pm from Karsog with my friends on our personal vehicle. The road of Mahunag from Karsog to Churag is very good and open but after the road is very narrow. But the road is safe to drive if you drive at normal speed. We reach this place in one and a half hours.  This temple is very beautiful and big from the outside and you can see many mountains from this temple and also see apple gardens and many trees of Hima

Bijli Mahadev Temple Kullu

  Bijli Mahadev Temple Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,460m from Kullu valley. Across the Beas River, Bijli Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient and sacred temples in India. This temple dedicated to lord shiva. It is said that the Bijli Mahadev Temple houses a Shiva Linga which was broken into pieces by skying lightning, then after the priest of the temple joint back together these pieces by using butter. A scenic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. Over around the area of the temple, there are no single trees,  it is believed that this place is the body of a big snake and this snake was killed by Lord Shiva because this snake was a very big devil this devil took a form of a snake and disturbing there local people then after lord shiva killed this devil.
