Sirmaur And Its Famous Places


Sirmaur:- 
Sirmaur is largely mountainous and villager place, a large number of its population living in villages. Sirmaur was founded by Raja Rasaloo of Jaisalmer in 1090. Its towns include Nahan , Paonta Sahib and Suketi. Sirmaur known for the Shivalik Fossil Park where fossils are very old, Indian geography has been says these fossils are  85 million years old. Sirmaur also famous for Renuka lake. Renuka fair, held with much fanfare around the scenic lake in November, is the largest festive gathering of Sirmaur. Bishu, a spring festival, brings together the community to hold Nati folk dances and compete at Thoda, a unique archery game. Sirmaur has six tehsils namely Nahan, Renuka, Shillai, Pachhad Rajgarh and Paonta Sahib. Population of Sirmaur is 458,593 and the Literacy rate of Sirmaur is 79.89%. It is situated 112km from Chandigarh and 251km from Delhi.

Renuka lake

Renuka Lake is the largest lake in Himachal Pradesh. it is 672 m above the sea level covering a circumference of  3214 m. famous for their untouched beauty and its cultural and historical connection.you  can enjoy boating. Visitors are often amused by water animals like turtles and a variety of fish making a sudden appearance in the lake. Renuka Lake is located at a distance of 37 km from Nahan and 60 km from Paonta Sahib. Its believed that Lord Parshurams mother Bhagwati Renuka Ji jumped in the Ram Sarovar and took Jal Samadhi and in present time this sarover called Renuka lake. There is also a mini zoo here where many rescued, stray wild animals are kept.
Churdhar
Churdhar peak in Sirmaur is one of the highest Peak of Shivalik ranges rising to 3,647 meters is a trekkers delight. Peaks around Badrinath and Kedarnath can be seen from here. On the time of winter Churdhar has covered by heavy snowfall. Walking through the wildlife sanctuary, you also see spectacular monal, Himachal’s state bird,  koklass and kaleej pheasants. It is situated 69km from the main sirmaur.

Haripurdhar



Haripurdhar is a very beautiful place in Sirmaur. This town was once the capital of Sirmour Kingdom and is now a small town with great natural beauty.  there are Bhangayani famous temples in the valley. Devi Bhangayani is held to be a relative of Shirgul Maharaj, the presiding deity at Churdhar peak. This town is at an altitude of 2500 m above sea level. It is located at a distance of  63km from sirmaur.

Trilokpur


Trilokpur is a temple site in sirmaur, India, located on an isolated hillock about 24 of Nahan. At Trilokpur is the temple of goddess Mahamaya Bala Sundri that has about 84 bells hanging at the entrance which show the beautiful childhood image of Goddess Durga. The second  Temple in trilokpur area dedicated to Bhagwati Lalita Devi, is situated on a hillock  at a distance of 3 km from Bala Sundry temple. Navratri fairs held twice a year Navratras are a big festival when many pilgrims visit the temple.
 
Suketi Fossil Park
Suketi Fossil park also known as Shivalik Fossil park. The park has a display of the fossil finds and an open-air exhibition of six life-sized fiberglass models of extinct mammals and also see some 2.5 million years old Dinosaurs spanning.  The park has been built and regulated by the Geological Survey of India and Himachal Pradesh tourism.

Nahan


Nahan is the headquarters of the Sirmaur District. Nahan was founded by Raja Karan Prakash in 1621, Nahan was the capital of a proud royal house. The rich heritage and culture of Nahan has temples, gardens, a palace and other important historical monuments scattered around town. Naham famous for rani lake, jaitak fort. Nahan is situated 133 km from Shimla and 84 km from Chandigarh.

Mul Mahunag Temple Karsog

  Mahunag Temple   Mahunag Temple is a very Famous and Historical temple in Karsog this temple dedicated to the god Shiva. In Himachal Pradesh so many temples of Mahunag but this temple is the main temple Mahunag that's why this temple is called Mul Mahunag. This temple is 32 Km from the Karsog bus stand and 84 Km from Shimla. This temple is located on the top of the hill and from there we see a very beautiful and awesome view.  Every year in May and June there local people holding the fair. Traveling  from Karsog This temple is 32 km from Karsog and we start our journey at 1 Pm from Karsog with my friends on our personal vehicle. The road of Mahunag from Karsog to Churag is very good and open but after the road is very narrow. But the road is safe to drive if you drive at normal speed. We reach this place in one and a half hours.  This temple is very beautiful and big from the outside and you can see many mountains from this temple and also see apple gardens and many trees of Hima

Bijli Mahadev Temple Kullu

  Bijli Mahadev Temple Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,460m from Kullu valley. Across the Beas River, Bijli Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient and sacred temples in India. This temple dedicated to lord shiva. It is said that the Bijli Mahadev Temple houses a Shiva Linga which was broken into pieces by skying lightning, then after the priest of the temple joint back together these pieces by using butter. A scenic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. Over around the area of the temple, there are no single trees,  it is believed that this place is the body of a big snake and this snake was killed by Lord Shiva because this snake was a very big devil this devil took a form of a snake and disturbing there local people then after lord shiva killed this devil.
